RECIPROCATING ENGINES WITH TURBINE. By Teleeraph-Press Association-OopyrieM London, June 5. . new steamer Demosthenes, built for the Aberdeen line (whoso fine liner the Pericles was recently lost off Capo Leeuwin), will sail next April. She is being fitted with duplicate sets of reciprocating engines for her wing propellers, and with a low-pressure steam turbine for tho midship screw. TURBINE AND THE "COMBINATION PRINCIPLE."

It was first tried, with good results, in the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Otaki. • Others havo followed suit, and tho Aberdeen liner mentioned in the cablegram will not be tho last.
