Messrs. Dalgety and Co. report :-We held our foi-tnig-huy sale at Dannevirkc yesterclay,when our entry comprised about 4CCO aheap and 150 head of cattle, which, for tho time of the year, is a heavy yarding. There was a sood attendance of buyers from the Wai.kato, Palmersc-un. Martoii, Hiiwku's Hay, and the local diElriets, and bidding throughout was spirited. As is usual at winter sales the (iliaiity of the sheep was somewhat mixsd, but, with two exceptions, all lines clianijed. hands under the hammer, prices for anything showing youth or quality being in excess of previous -quotations. In cattle the entry was cliieiiy composed of young stock, and, pi-ac-ticaliy. all lines wore cleared, recent rates being- fully maintained. Heavy fat ewes paid at 15s. 10d.; others, from 125.; good ewes in lamb to 13s. lCd.; medium, Bs. 2d. to S.i. 7d.; culls, ss. to 6s. 9d.; store ewes, i:ii::«l a?es, ss. 4d. to 6s. lid.; pood niiiodecx woolly hoggets, 9s. 2d.; shorn, ss. 2d. t3 7s. 9d.; two and four-tooth store wethers, 11s. 2d.; fat heifers, 90s. to 1055.; forward heifers, 755. to 825.; store cows, Sis. to CPs.; twenty-month to two-year steers, 775. to 78s. 6d.; mixed wcaners, 345. 6d. to 355. ■ Mr. Newton King's weekly stock report is as follows:—At the Hayinarket on Saturday, notwithstanding the wet weather, demand'. At Douglas on Monday there was a good yarding of both cattle and sheep. An exceptionally good line of 800 four, six, and f.f.m owes were penned by ilr. J. Farrell, and met with good competition, being knocked down at 165. sd. The cattle were also well. competed for, nearly everything being sold at the hammer. Mixed weaners, small, made £1 Is. to 235.; do., good quality, 38s. to 395.; empty heifers, eighteen months. £2 Gs. to £2 Vis.; yearling steers .£2 55.; two to two-and-a-half-year steers, £3 14s. Cd. to £J 155.; store cows, £2 6s. to £2 175.; i'a-t cows, £4 12s. to £4 175.; in-calf heifers, £4 2s. At Stratford on Tuesday, owins to the wet weather, there was only a small yarding.
