" PRE-ARRANGED."

WHY JEFFRIES WILL WIN THE* FIGHT. ON THE GOVERNOR'S WORD. NEGRO WOULD HAVE TO LICK ALL CALIFORNIA. By Telegraph-Press Association-Oopyrisht (Rec. June 3, 10.15 p.m.) New York, June 3. A representative of the "Chicago Examiner" interviewed Mr. J. N. Giliett, Governor of California, on the subject of the Jeffries-Johnson fight for the championship of the world, which has just been permitted by the San Francisco authorities in spite of protests. Mr. Giliett declared that the result of the Johnson-Jeffries fight had been pre-arranged. Johnson would win £30,000 more if he lost than if he won, owing to the greater value the moving pictures would have in the former case. ' In any case, Johnson had no chance unless he went into the ring prepared to whip Jeffries, the roferce, and the majority of the male population of California as well. The crowd would never stand the negro. Mr. Giliett added: "I am not going to interfere as the law permits bouts." The statement has caused a sensation.
