Mr. B. A. Collinge, assistant engineer, of the Ruahine, signed off tho vessel's articles yesterdaj, Tho steamer Kairaki has lost eight or nine blades from her propellers altogether.Three went at once oil two occasions, and. the others camo off singly. The repeated losses are attributed to tho fact that whereas the original blades were of cast-, steel the new ones put on were cast-iron. Tho design of the blades was altered to: 'ive sufficient strength, but the strength oftho iron did not come up to expectations, and the new blades gave way. Bronza blades now occupy the places of the broke® l j ones, and aro answering perfectly.
