Complaint was made by Councillor Frost at last night's meeting of the City Council that as regards every recommendation for street improvements in tho outlying districts the city engineer reported against tho work. The' Mayor said that there was no doubt but that the council would soon have to face the question of tho money available for street improvements. The amount available for this work was *£35,000, the same amount as used to be granted before there was any Greater Wellington. A great deal of money was now spent on reserves, and tho money appropriated for reserves made so much less for streets. Councillor Fitzgerald urged .that the Outlying Districts Committee used their best discretion in dealing with applications for improvements, but they had not the necessary money. N

Applications from the Kilbirnie Boy Scouts, All Saints' Church, Kilbirnie, and the Church of England Boys' Guild for the use of the Kilbirnie Reserve dressing shed were agreed to by the City Council last evening, the nights lo be allocated by the committee, and a charge to bo made for light or a monthly rental as might bo determined.
