ELECTRIC LIGHT.
A MONTH'S WORKING. Reporting on tie city electric lighting department, Mr. Stuart Richardson, engineer and manager, states: "In consequence of the alteration in the method of meter reading, which came into vogue in April, and by which there is continuous meter reading throughout the month, instead of only at the end of cacli month as heretofore, the April revenue is rather less than it would have been under the old method of rendering accounts. The May revenue will, however bo augmented in like proportion, and thereafter it will bo possible to get a correct comparison each month with the corresponding poriod in the previous year. "The revenue for April amounted to ,£363l,'as compared with £1043 lust year. The working expenses amounted lo .tlSjl) as compared with <(2238, being a decrease of ,£3BB. After providing for proportion of standing charges, the net result of the month's output is a credit balance of ,£295 as compared with X 417 lost year."
