They add that South Africa is nominally bound to Britain, but is in reality independent. CLEMENCY TO DINIZULU. RELEASED ON BIIITH OF TJNIOiN. London, Juno 1. Reuter's Durban correspondent states that Dinizulu, the Zulu chief, is to be transferred to Pretoria. It is understood he is on the point of being released and placed on a farm. Durban, June 1. The report regarding the removal of Dinizulu to Pretoria, nnd his probable early release, has been confirmed. [Dinizulu's sentence to four years' imprisonment, for sheltering rebels, dates from December, 1907.] REASONABLE LIBERTY. SALARY OP .£SOO SUBJECT TO GOOD BEHAVIOUR. (Rec. June 2, 9.35 p.m.) Cape Town, June 2. At the first meeting of the Union, Cabinet, it was decided to release Dinizulu. He will live at Rylstroom with his wives in reasonable liberty, and will receive an allowance of ,£SOO per annum subject to his good behaviour. CABINET CRITICISMS. (Rec. June 2, 11.10 p.m.) 'Pretoria, June 2. The "Transvaal Leader" applauds tie inclusion in' the first Union Cabinet cf Messrs. J. W. Sauer, F. S. Malan, and H. C. Burton (all Cape Colony Ministers). The Johannesburg "Star" condemns the inclusion of the Orange River Colony Ministers, Mr. Fischer and General Hertzog. The inclusion of General Hertzog, who is Minister of Justice in the new Cabinet, has intensely gratified the Free Staters. Mr. Lionel Phillips (a Rand mining magnate, and one of the four Uitlanders condemned to death in connection with the Jameson Raid in the days of the Transvaal Republic), speaking at Johannesburg, welcomed the appointment cf General Smuts as Minister of the Interior, Mines, and Defence.
