IMMIGRATION.

CANADA WILL NOT WITHDRAW HER RESTRICTION, Hy Tolcirraob— Press Association—Ooorrlsbt (Rec. Juno 2, 9.35 p.m.) London, June 2. .The explanation is given that it would be inaccurato to say that the British Government had protested to the Canadian Government against the new Canadian immigration regulations. The British Government only asked for information, and forwarded protests from British charitable and other organisations. Canada, it is added, did not intend to change the regulations providing that an immigrant must be in possession of .£5 and a ticket to his destination. Canada considered this provision necessary in order to enable immigrants to seek employment, instead of settling in congested centres.
