Messrs. D.ilgcty and Company, Limited, report hcving-held Iheir fortiiit'htly sale at Mnsiejton in their Wnipoua, yards this week, when they ollercd u. full yarding, well aliove advertised numbers of both raulo and sheep, wliieh, considering the lime, of the season, was exceptionally good. The cattle entry comprised some very good lines, the quality all through being much superior to anything coming forward lor this last six months. Some exgoing under" the hammer. Competition for this class of rattle was keen, which was alßi the eas-o with three-year bullocks, and quite- a number of buyers left the yards after the sale with their requirements unfilled. Quotations :-.Sheep: Forward lambs, 75., 7k. 7d., to Bs. Id.; fat and forward ewes, 75., Bs., Us., to Us. 3d.; two-tooth wethers, 11s. 3d., 11s. 5(1., to Us. lid. At Messrs. Daigety and Co/s sale yesterday at Hastings there was a big entry of cattle and sheep. Beef maintained its strong position in the present-day market, and fat sheep also wld well. Fat bullock;;. £8 195.; fat cows. .£7 to £6 155.; three and a half-year Hereford cross bullocks, £5 12s. 6d.; dairy Holstcin heifers, £8 2s. 6d.; store cows, £3 155.; fat wethers, 165.; four and six-tooth wethers, Us. 4t1.; two-tooth wethers, 12s. 7d.; fat ewes, to 125.; breeding ewes, 9s. to lie.: forward lambs, 7s. IBy TeleiraDß—Press Association.) Christchurch, June 1. The usual weekly sale of stock was held at Addingtou saleyards to-day in fine weather, there being a good attendance of farmers and buyers. The total yarding of stock of all kinds showed a slight decrease, especially so in store sheep and fat lambs. Thero was a fairly good entry of fat. sheep and cattle, and pigs remained about on the average of recent sales. s
Storo sheep: There was a much smaller entry of store sheep, the bulk of which consisted of medium sorts. Ewes and lambs wero go-ad average class, and there were- few wethers penned. Competition was good, and all lots changed ownership at fair prices. Sound-mouthed ewes and hoggets advanced about Is. per head. Lambs made Ss. sd. to 11s. Id., and medium ewe lambs to Us. Bd.; four and sixtooth wethers brought up to 135., coarse ;shc and eight-tooth ewes fetched 11s. to 11s. 9d., and aged ss. to 6s. 6d.\ Fat lambs: There was a big drop in the number of fat lambs yarded, the total entries being 6742 head, a decrease of about was a representative one, and included all classes of lambs. Competition for various lines was a good deal brisker than at last sale, and prices showed an increase of from 6d. to 9d. per head for all classes of lambs'. Exporters were tho most active operators, and took over COCO of the lots offered. The range of prices was: Ordinary freezers, 13s. to 15s. 9d.; tegs, to 17s. 6d.;.light and unfinished, 9s. sd. to 12s. 6d. Fat 6h':ep: There was a smaller yarding of fat sheep this week, but all dassss were. represented. The sale opened well and with plenty of competition, and vthe demand for good wethers waa much keener than at some of the recent sales. The range of prices was: Extra prime wethers, to 215.; prime, 16s. 6d. to 19s. 9d.; medium, Ms. to 165.; light, 6s. 9d. to 13s. 9d.; merinos, 7s. 7d. to Bs., 9d.; prime, ewes, 15s. to 19s:; medium, 12s. 6d, to Ms. 6d.; ajed, 3s. sd. to 12s. Fat c&Ule: There were 281 fat cattle yarded, the general quality being a trifle below that ; seen at several of the recent sales. In i'spite, ofj-this tho market was firm, aDd beef "advanced a point or 235.,' and extra, to 255. per 1001b. Steers made £6 17s. 6d. to £10; extra, to £11 2s. 6d.; heifers, £5 to £7; extra, £B 10s.; dry cows, £4 17s. 6d. to £7 10s.; extra, to £10;Vealers: There was an average entry of calves, and prices ranged from 4s. 6d. for small to £2 15s. for well-grown animals. Store cattle: A fair.number were penned, but the general: ■ quality was poor, the bulk being low-conditioned lines from the south. The demand was naturally slack, ,and tho passings heavy- Yearlings made to 215.; fifteen to' oighteen-nionths, £2 15s. Two-year-olds passed at £2 12s. 6d.; two-year-old heifers, £3 155.; two and a half-year-old steers, £3 17s. 6d. to £4 7s. 6d.; dry cows, £1 10b. to £4 7s. 6d. Dairy cows: Tho yarding consisted of a good useful class, and 'there was a good demand at prices from £3 Is. to £8 10s.; extra, to £10 7s.'6d. Pigs: There was a medium entry of fat pigs, which included some lines of very good quality. The demand was dull. Prices wcro: Choppers, 50s. to 605.; largo baconors, 475. 6d. to 505.; smaller, 38s. to 455. (equal to 4d. per lb.); large porkers madp 31s. to 355.; smaller, 255. to 30s. (equivalent to 4Jd. to 4id. per lb.). Stores were in poor request, and prices were low. Large stores, 14s. 6d. to 225.; smaller, 9s. to 145.; weaners, 4s. to 7s. Duncdin, June 1. At Burnsido stock market there was a small yarding of fat.cattle, only IC6 being penned The quality was good, and as.the bidding was spirited prices showed an improvement of fully 10s. per head all round. liest bullocks, £10 to £10 10s.; extra, to £12 12s. 6d.; medium to good, £8 10s. to £9 10s.; light, £6 10s. to £7 10s.; best conn and heifers, £6 10s. to £7 10s.; extra, to £11 12s. 6d.; medium to good, £5 10s. to £6 10s.; light, £4 to £5. Fat sheep: There was again a large entry, 2327 being penned. There was good competition for prime heavy wethers, which' were firm at last week's rate. Freezing wethers were easier owing to oxporters standing off. Ewes were much the same as last week. Best wethers, 18s. 6d. to 225. 6d.; extra, to 245.; medium to good, 15s. 6d. to 17s. 6d.; light and inferior, 10s. 6d. to 13s. 6d.; best ewes, 12s. 6d. to 13s. 6d.; extra, to 16s. 9d.; good, 10s. to 125.; light, 6s. 6d. to 7s. 6d. Pat lambs: 2246 penned. A large number of exporters and butehers were operating and prices were very firm at last week's rates. Best, 14s. to 15s. 6d.; extra show lainbs, to 205.; medium to good, 11s. to 13s. 9d.; light, Bs. 6d. to 10s. 6d. Pigs: About 100 were penned, chiefly young sorts. Porkers and baconers were iu short supply, and were slightly firmer, but suckers and slips were very dull of sralc. Suckers, 3s. 6d. to 7s. 6d.; slips, 9s. to Us. 6d.; stores, 15s. to 205.; porkers, 255. to 355.; light baconers, 375. to 425.: heavy baconers, 455. to 48s.
