SCHOOL GARDEN WORK.
BIG DISPLAY AT PALMERSTON. The development of school garden work has been one of tho most interesting features in connection with the agri-cultural-instruction now given at the public schools. The Wellington and Wanganui Education Boards have been especially prominent in' taking up extensive courses which are continued on through the different classes. The movement has been further assisted in many echools apart from the masters, by th'e interest of school-' committees and parents, but the public at large could not have had an opportunity of viewing such practical work for the rising generation were it not for.some means of bringing together exhibits from many schools. The National- Dairy Show Executive, from the inception of the Dairv .Show at Palinerston North, have always displayed a keen desire to further the school garden work, and natural study, consesequently sdiqol garden 'products have always been a prominent feature, until the section has como to rival- the older divisions in interest. School Harden products and nature sMy (including natural historv) will bo an imposing feature at the National Dairy Show this month. The prizes offered run into some £40, including a special prize of presented by Jlt. J. E. Nathan, of : London, all of which goes to further 'agricultural education in the public school?. The llaiiawatu Philosophical Society also offered .fcfi (Is. f D r botanical and entomological col loci ions. Country school pupils are granted free admission to the National Dairy Show on the third day, Juno 23. It is reported that several large holdings io the AVhenuakura district, ne,ir Patea, are to Iμ cut up shortly into email dair.v farms
