ALLEGED THEFT.
EX-EMPLOYEE OP TELEGBAPH OFFICE CHAEGED. (By TcteCTaDh— Press Association.) Christchurch, June L Detectives Kennedy and illeod 'to-day arrested Allan F. Young, an at tho Post and Telegraph Office, on two charges of theft of moneys belonging to tho Department It is understood that the charges refer to amounts alleged to have been received by Yonng, who was employed at the receiving counter in thn Telegraph Office. This afternoon, before Mr. H. W. Bishop S.M., Young appearo.l on two charges—that he did on May 19 steal the sum of .S3 6s. 9d. in money, the property of the New Zealand Government, and that on May 21 ho did steal a further sum of £3 lGs. lid., also .the property of the Government. Chief Detective "Bishop appeared for the police. Accused applied for a remand until tho following, morning, as he stated hawanted to obtain the services of a solicitor. The application was grauted, and he was remanded. until to-morrow, bail being allowed, himself in .£SO and one surety of ,£SO. >
