OPERA HOUSE TIPS.
Sir,—"Bled to Death" is suffering under a misapprehension when he states in The Dominion on May 30, in regard to the present season of grand opera that "When you arrive at the dressing-room there is a rush made for tips. A man hasn't time to take off his coat when a plate is shoved under bis nose." I have been a constant patron of the Opera House for many years, and I feel that I should tuke up the cudgels on behalf of the dressing-room boys. From the tone of the letter "Bled to Death" is not so much concerned about the tip business as about the price .of reserved seats. This is not the fault of the dressing-room boys, whom I have always found courteous and obliging, and such a thing as asking'for tips is unheard of. The saucers are left on the table, anil if the public likes to drop something in, well and good. They are never asked. "Bled to Death" should not exaggerate, but should stick to the truth,' and not try to do harm to a couple of boys who have done nothing to offend.—l am, etc., CONSTANT THEATBE-GOEE. Wellington, May 31.
