The South African Cabinet is officially announced as follows:— Mr. Botha, Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture. Mr. ,T. C. Smuts, Minister of the Interior, .Mines, and Defence. Sir. J. W. Saner, Minister of Hailways and ]Tnrbuur«. Mr. J. ii. Ilcrtzog, Minister of Justice. Mr. F. S. Malan, Minister of Education. Mr. H. C. Hull, Minister of Finance. Mr. A. Fischer, Minister of Lands. Air. 1.1. liurtou. Minister oi Native Affairs. Mr. i'. E. Moor, Minister of Commerce and Industries. Mr. D. V. Do Villiers Graaff, Minister of J'ublic Works ami Ptst and Telegraphs. Mr. C. O'Grady Gubbins, Minister without portfolio. (Kcc. May 31, 10.30 p.m.) Cape Town, May 31, Thanksgiving services for the birth of the Union were held in every church in South Africa this morning, except where combined services had been arranged in the open air. Ten thousand school children paraded at Johannesburg and sang hymns. Union Jack tableaux descriptive of the Union were also arranged. May 31 was chosen as the date on which the Union should become operative, that boing the date.of the signing at Pretoria of the Vereeniging Peace Treaty. Ottawa, May 30. The birthday of United South Africa was observed throughout Canada. The teachers gave addresses to the school children on the history of the new confederation. The schools and public buildings were beflagged.
