At the Town Clerk's office, Mr. "W. H. Tong, who is severing his connection with the office next Tuesday, received a presentation from the members of the borough staff, the presentation taking tho form of a silver-mounted pino and. a silver-mounted smoker's box.
At iLs 'annual meeting the Feilding A. and P. Association elected the following officers: —President, Mr. A* Campbell; vice-presidonts, Messrs. A. 11. Atkinson, Henry Burrell, D. H, Guthrie, M.P., and E. Short; committee, Messrs. Hugh Burrell, A. R. Mayo, J. It. M'Lennan, W. J. Phillips, A. F. Fitzhcrbert, J. G. Cobbe, and Joseph Corpo. Mr. Hugh Burrell was heartily thanked for his past year's services as president. Tho question of the inclusion of flock ram classes in the nest show schedule was referred t<< the incoming general' committee, as was also a proposal of the Chamber of Commerce to the effect that tho association should support the movement for ait industrial exhibition to be held in Feilding next year. A special committed was set up to consider a suitable list of subjects for a course of lectures for farmers, which course, it has been Bug- 1 gested, should he provided under tka> auspices of the Technical School.

Tlio Otaki cricketers held a smoka ooncert last week to celebrate the win-, ning of two very handsome trophies! given to the / association by Messrs. Hall and V. Bevan, sen. The room T/as well filled, and the time passed pleasantly with speeches and songs. Mr. Byron Brown occupied the chair. Tho following toasts were honoured"The King," "Horowhenua Cricket Association," proposed by Mr- Cook and responded to by Mr. Ayro; "Kindred' Sports," proposed by Mr. F. Walker and responded to by Messrs. H. Nicolson, P. H. Bright, T. Taylor, G. Farmer, and Byron Brown; "Tho Ladies," proposed, by Mr. H. Small and responded to by Mr. Farmer; "The Press," proposed by' Mr. M. Naughton and responded to hy Mr. H. Nicolson; "The l Chairman," proposed by Mr.. Tahinui; "Host and Hostess," proposed by Mr. F. H. Bright and responded to by Mr< Taylor. . Mr. Mark Ayro, ono. of the most energetic members of the Druids' Lodge here, and who is also handicapper for the Athletic Club, has been presented bv members with a handsome gold medal; as a token of esteem. Tho medal bearsr' a neatly-designed inscription, and ■ car-i ries with it the very best wishes of thoi organisation.

Tho monthly meeting of the Grey< town District High School Committed was held on Friday evening last. Ths headmaster's report, which showed the roll number to be 256 and tho average; attendance to bo 237.3 was read and adopted. It was reported that the winter term of holidays, one week, had begun, and also that Miss-Mortou had completed duty at tho school as second ' assistant in the secondary department;' Miss M'Landress taking her place on Juno:6. The treasurer reported .the bank balance to, be £183. ■ The matter of extra cleaning was left in the hands of the chairman and Mr. Walden."
