' ; Hagney occasioned a great deal of in- ' tevest, and resulted in an easy win for. Pearce. ' •. The weather was fine; the n-ater smooth, and the attendance large. Hagney led over "the first huudred yards, and for the first half milo kept Poarce moving. After that the champion was ' not troubled, and ho gradually forged- -i ahead. ; He led by two lengths at the end of the mile, and at two miles he had a lead of six lengths. , ;
He finished about. twenty lengihs to the good, Hagney tiring badly at the finish. The winner rowed grandly through-' out. . ' The time was 21min. 22jsec.
