THli BROOKLYN * CLUB. On Saturday the Brooklyn barrier* were favoured with the best of weather conditions for their weekly runSomewhat of a new departure in local harrierism was . undertaken - by • this newly-formed club, and'credit is due to tho energetic committee which made the afternoon's sport most enjoyable for all present. Smith, and Mr. S. G. Ross, (vice-presidents). ■ A; large banner with the club's monogram was carried on the journey. About six miles of the finest cross country around Wellington .was covered in quick time, the whole of the pack keeping well together throughout; A run in was held over the last 000 yards, and resulted in a' win for JDon, with C. Murray and F. Hodson second and third respectively, the rest of the men being in a hunch a. few yards back. After the run, afternoon tea was dispensed, and subsequently the party started on their' , return journey. On the way home the ' club cuptain, Mr. 1 P. A. Wilson, thanked the 'president and vice-presidents far the pleasure of their company during the' afternoon. Mr. AY right, M.P., .in reply, thanked the members for the pleasant afternoon, and the vico-presi-dent-s also expressed their opinion that the outing had been an enjoyable one. Next Saturday's run will be held from Te Aro Baths, at 3 p.m. sharp, when members are reminded that the entries For the sealed handicap, to bo held at Miramar on June 11, close.

The run-in was considerably longer than usual, being fully SOU yards, and was a. good test c-f- the staying capabilities of tie competitors. Although some of • the speedy members were missing, the contest was full of interest, F. AVilton just' prevailing over AY. Press by a couple of feet, W. Curry and Rowberry about nine yards' away third. ' Members were unanimous in their praise of arrangements and tea provided by Mr. Morton. Tho club runs from Ngahauranga .next' Saturday, and the train loaves Te Aro at 2.5 p.m: 'As the Palmer Cup race takes place on June IS, all members are enjoined to attend the runs regularly, besides going in foff systematic training.
