DEPUTATION TO HON. A. T. NGATA.

(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, May 25. A deputation waited on the Hon. A. T. Ngata yesterday, headed by the Hon. Mahuta and' Mr. Hcnnre Kaihau, M.P. for the Western Maori Electorate, in reference to the acquisition of Nativo land for settlement by Europeans. Representatives from the Waikato, Kawhia, Tamatara, and Maniapoto tribes were.present, and offered about 350,000 acres of land for purchase in terms of tho Native Land Act of lust year. In reply to the deputation Mr. Ngata stated that the Government was prepared to acquire largo areas immediately under the conditions of last session's enactment.

In order that the subject could bo moro fully investigated and details considered it was decided that a further meeting bo held at Ihmtly early in June at which the Hon. James Carroll will, in all probability, bo present.
