LAND BOARD.
AD.IOUIWi.ED MEETING.
Tho adjourned meeting of the Land Board yesterday was attended by tho Commissioner v Mr. James Mackenzie}, and Messrs. Dawson, Ellingham, and Geovgetti. A petition was received in connection with the completion of the roads in the North Waimarino Block, and, after discussion, it was agreed to postpone the matter till next meeting. The Commissioner again brought up tho question of the disposal of Sections 363, 3Q7, and 368, Blocks X and V, Wairoa, and it was resolved to leave the matter in the Commissioner's hands to dispose of on such tenure and conditions as might be found most suitable to protect the Crown's interest in the minerals, etc.
A petition was received from settlers along the Kawautahi Vnlley Road, asking: "(1) .for formation and completion of Kawarftahi Valley Road to the teliI mile peg; (2) for preference of employment for settlers;,(3) for exemption for four years for rents and rates; (•!) for exemption from forfeiture until twelve months after completion of road past section liable to forfeiture. It was decided to defer consideration of the petition until next meeting. Mr. J. C. Ewingtou attended with referenee to his application for somo three hundred acres in Block XI, Mikimiki Survey District, and asked that n small area of, say, 10 or 15 acres should he allotted him, as the board was not favourable to granting his application in full. >It was decided that the selection granted on the previous day to a Mr. Nicholson he subject to a sawmill site being cut out for Mr. ICwington, of an area and location to he fixed by the Commissioner.
