CHRISTCHURCH TRAM STAFF.

CHANGES DECIDED ON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, May 25. In connection with the Christchurch Tramways Board staff reorganisation scheme, the board considers that the resignation of Mr. Scott Symington, from the position of engineer, presented an opportunity of dealing with staff matters, and abolishing a system of triplo control, which has existed up to the present. Consequently the board has decided to reorganise the separato departments, which are the clerical, traffic, and engineering branches. It was, considered expedient to begin with tho traffic department, and, to-day, a first indication of the nature of the changes became known to the public, when six officers of that department received requests to send in their resignations. Tho officers are in the highest positions in the department, and, included in the list, is Sir. J. Wood, traffic superintendent. The officers concerned will be eligible for reappointment, and it is probable that all will apply. It is not intended to deal with the engineers' department until Mr. Scott Symington's successor has been appointed, as it is considered that the new engineer should l>e consulted before any changes are made. Tho motormen and conductors aro not affected in thescheino of reorganisation.
