AUCKLAND BY-ELECTION.
; Oreymouth,,May 25. ■• (By TeleEiaDh-Press Association.) .The Prime Minister received an official cablegram from the High Commissioner this morning announcing the death ot Mr. F. Baume, M.P. for Auckland East. Ho handed it to the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Mr. Buinaess), who promptly telegraphed i instructions to the Clerk of Write to Issue a, writ for the election. Chrlstchurch, May 26 >•** a meeting of tho Christehuroh ifootmakers' Union last evening a motion _ was carried unanimously to take a. ballot on tho proposal to send £10 to the Labour party in Auckland to holp the Labour candidate in tho Auckland East by-election contest.
