A WAIRARAPA COALFIELD.
TO BE EXPLOITED. (By Teleuraph.—Press Association.! Eketahuna, May 26. It has been expected from indications for some years that coal in payable quantities has existed near Eketahuna, but no definite steps havo so far been taken to thoroughly test what appears to bo a seam running east and west for about three miles, a little to the north of tho town. Now, however, as a result of closo investigations made by an expert of wide experience, a syndicate hag been formed at Hastings to thoroughly tost , the locality, and already a boring right has been obtained over a largo area" of land, and boring operation; are to commence at an early date. The promoters of tho syndicate aro confident that the experiment will bo followed with success, and tho townspeople aro taking keen interest in the .project,
