FAILURE TO DETECT SMALLPOX. By Tele&raph-Prcss Association—Oopyrißht (Kec. May 24, 11.10 p.m.) ' Perth, May 24. , The Court further heard tho case against Dr. Bowkctt, of the stcainei 1 Otway, who is being proceeded against for failure to detect smallpox in a boy patient, which case was followed by a serious outbreak of the disease. Dr. Bowkctt, in his evidence, stated that he had never seen a case of sraalU pox before tho case of tho boy on tha ship. He explained his reasons for regarding tho case as one of sun fever. * The hearing was adjourned. r'l'he Health Officer, in his evidence, alleged'that if a proper examination of the case bad been made, the doctor "could not have failed to diagnose smallpox.]
