COLONIAL OLYJIPIC COMMITTEES. Olympic committees are (says the . "Referee") being formed in some of the States and also in the Dominion of New Zealand at the request of Jfr. Coombes, representative for Australia and New Zealand on the International Olympic Committee. Although the next Olympian Games do not take place until 1912 (at Stockholm), there is an immense amount of preliminary work to be done—and it is imperative that Australasia should bo represented by a strong team. I understand that the Now South Wales Amateur Sporting. Federation has been asked to so alter its name and constitution as to bo known as the New South Wales Amateur Sporting Federation and Olympic Co.uneil. It is hoped Jlr. E. A. Brooke will see to it that the Tasmanian Federation acts in similar fashion. Tho New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association is forming a Dominion Olympic Council, or perhaps I should say is taking the initiative in the formation of such a body with headquarters in Wellington. With regard to Victoria, Mr. Coombes hopes to visit Jtelbourno before long to confer with the leaders of amateur sport in that city. It is hoped that Jfr. D. S. Carter, president of the Queensland Amateur Athletic Association, will set the ball rolling in Brisbane. Perhaps something may be done in South Australia and Western Australia at a later date.
