The Queen's Statue. ' Yesterday afternoon, in honour of Empire Day, the Queen's statue was decorated by the members of the Wellington branch of the Navy League with drapery, and with wreaths made . by ladies of the league. P. and Miss Fowler from Lansdowne, Masterton, and Mrs. V. Baldwin from Opoliki. Mr. and Mrs. Erie Williams arrived in Wellington by the Main Trunk line last week, and aro now the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Algar Williams. The .Karori Ride Club has invited a number of ladies to afternoon, tea today, when theli tropliies won by the club will, be cni view. The Fire Brigado is giving its annual dance at the J?ire Station on Friday .night. , The many friends of the lato Mrs. Cowie (wife of the late Primate of New Zealand) will be glad to learn that a movement is on foot to place a memorial to her in St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell. The memorial is to take the form of a window over the north-west door, with a representation of the Annunciation in coloured glass. An appeal for funds is being made by Miss G. Koskruge, of "Penmere," Parnell, to which the women of the diocese of Auckland are invited to contribute.'
