MAIN TRUNK TRAIN.

———6 - HOURS OF DEPARTURE FROM AUCKLAND. (By Teleiraph.—Special CorreEDondent.l Auckland, May 22. In connection with the move on the part of the Wellington' Chamber of Commerce to liave the Slain Trunk expresses leave Auckland tivo hours earlier than, at present, the secretary of the Auckland Chamber has received a letter from the secretary of the Wellington Chamber. The Auckland Chamber is asked to support a proposal that the express be dispatched from Auckland at 7.15 p.m. instead of 9.15 p.m., so that the train may arrive iu Wellington at 2.7 p.m. instead of 4.7 j).m. The early delivery of mails in Wellington and other places, says the letter, would enable much correspondence to bo dealt with the same day, while under the existing arrangement letters are not delivered till the following morning. The matter received the attention of llr. J. H. Gunson, the president of the Auckland Chamber, and he instructed the secretary to reply to the effect that the Council of the Auckland Chamber would not be likely to support so early a departure from Auckland as 7.15 p.m. as that would be an inconvenient hour for many travellers, but if a departure at 8 p.m. would be acceptable to the Wellington Chamber lie would bring a recommendation to that effect before his council at its next meeting.
