DOMINION SCOUTS.
On. Saturday afternoon the Dominion Scouts went out to Trentham, and engaged in rifle practice. Following were the best scores:—

KARORI RIFLE CLUB. The Ka,rori Rifle Club fired for the "Daily Mail" Empire Cup at Trentham* on Saturday. Conditions, 200,' 500, and; 600 yards, seven shots at each, one sighter not to count. The eight highest scores to count as the team. Captain Glendinning, of the D Battery, was in charge of the range, and Lieu'tcnant Ellis, of No. 3 Company W.G.A.V. took charge of the trench. The weather conditions were favourable to good shooting, with, perhaps, the exception of the light, which failed early. The club put np the fine score of 771, which is an advance of 23, points on their previous best performance in this competition. This works out at an average of 96.375 points per man for the team, which is a splendid shoot for Trentham. As will be seen by the scores, the younger shots contributed largely to this end, and this feature speaks well for the future of the club. The New Zealand champion, G. Halliday, was in grand form,' heading the list with the splendid total of 101. Ho only missed the "bull" three times in 21 shots, getting 34 at 200 yards, 34 at 500 yards, and 33, commencing with a magpie, at 600 yds. He was followed by W. CHRISTCHURCH RIFLE CLUB. (By -Telegraph—Press Association.) Ghrlstchurch, May 22. The Christchnrch Rifle Club competed yesterday in the "Daily Mail" Empire Cup competition. . The highest scores were: W. J. Henry, 33 at 200 yds., 30 at 500 yds., and 30 at 600 yds.,■ total 93; C. M. Walker 30 at each range, total 90; J. Gray 30, 28, and 29, total 87. Of the eleven who competed, eight averaged, 87 points.
