THE PARAPARA IRON LEASE.
Sir, —Can yon inform me how is it that the Parnpara iron lease is not being worked? It has been granted close on fivo years, and practically nothing done. I whs on tho ground as.late ns two months ago, and I can't see anything worth speaking of done. There is a small tramline ending nowhere, and a few sleepers, but so far u» I. could see that is all tho work done for the last five years. Where is the great R. M'Kenzie that used to say: "I am going to see this work carried out"?, . Since he got on top of tho ladder and became- a Minister, there is nothing said. Another thing puzzles me. Where is our Opposition Leader to allow the Government to hang back like this? Companies are trying to buy all our water as well as iron and coal. Tho Government makes poor people work the land and keep it clean. Are they doing the same to big people and keeping them up to their contracts? It is time we heard what has been done and what is going to bo done.—l am, etc., FAIR PLAT.
