SOUTHLAND ACTION. In his annual report to be presented to the-ninth annual conference of the Farmers' Union for Southland province, the president, 31 r. H. J. lUiddleton, says:—"As yon will have seen the scheme for the introduction of immigrants has been inaugurated during the.year, four families having been introduced, but it is too soon to state that -it'lias been an unqualified success, because, so far, only one family has remained with the farmer wlio nominated them; further, eight lads or young" men w<?ro introduced, and it i 3 satisfactory to find that nearly all these are giving their employers complete satisfaction so far. The executive has recognised the anxiety and labours of thri' secretary in tliis matter,.
