BIBLE CLASS UNION.

_ The first of a series of monthly gatherings of the Wellington District Young Men's Methodist Bible Class Union, w ; Mch comprises eleven city and suburban classes, took t.lic form of a "social" at the Thorndon Classroom on Monday, when the members of the Young Women's Union were entertained by the young men, the attendance being over one hundred. Jlr. W. Doiist, vice-president, presided, aiid briefly welcomed the visitors. During the course of the evening items w;ere rendered by Miss Mueller, Miss Baker, and Mr. Cassie. A Maori war dance was given by the members of tho Trinity Young Men's Class. The subject chosen for thv Impromptu speech contest was "Halley's Comet. The first place was awarded to Mr. L. A. Denton, of Tar&naki Street Class. The tug-of-war. Thorndon v. Karori and Thorndon v. Trinity, was won by Thorndon in each case. After supper had been handed round, Miss Bp.r&fl (president of tb« local Young Women's Union) and Mrs. E. O. Blamires (nee • Sister Annie) heartily thanked Hie young men for their kindness, and congratulated them upon the success of their first meeting of their winter programme. The meeting was then closed in the usual way. Tho iiext monthly gathering is to take the form of a debate, when the Petone Class "will be visited.
