Tho barometer has risen everywhere, and a southerly gale was. experienced in many parts last night, but especially on the East Coast. Heavy rain, hail, and snow on high levels were reported this morning, and the weather continues unsettled in both extremes, north aud south. Present indications are for a, further rise in barometric pressure in tho north, with moderate southerly winds and fair weather. The barometer will probably fall again to-morrow ovening in the south with winds backing to Hie westward, and freshening. CO. BATES. Meteorological Office, May 17, 1910.
