POHANGINA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Pohangina County Council was held on Saturday. Present: Messrs. Brown (chairman), Bourne, Smith, Horace, Port, Eglinton, and Wagstaff. Before proceeding with the business of the meeting, the chairman moved a resolution expressing tho grief, of the council at the death of King Edward. A letter from the Kairanga County Council, asking for co-operation in dealing with noxious weeds, was left to the inspector to take tho necessary steps. It was decided to co-operato with the' Westland County Council in securing amondment in the procedure .in compiling county rolls. W. Spurn-ay's application for tho transfer of a gravel reservo to G. Malcolm was granted. The county engineer's report was read, us also that of tho treasurer, and adopted. Mr. D. Sinclair, in charge of Parson's Ford bridge, reported that the work was proceeding satisfactorily. It was resolved .that tenders be invited for metalling the Ashhurst-Pohangina Koad, from Itaumai to the south boundary of tho county. Messrs. Brocking and Harkness were granted an extension of the Feny reserve for seven years. F. Smith was appointed ranger, to take up. his duties on May 23. Tho following general rates for tho yoar were struck: —Awahon Riding, Id. in tho JEI; Coal Creek. Id.; Mangaone, i(|.; Mangapekoneko. 13d.; Pohangina, 13d.; Tamaki, ljtl. Umutoi, 2d. l'he engineer was instructed to prepare plans for a new council room.
