THE BIG DAIRY SHOW.
HEAVY DEMAND FOE SPACE. An idea of tho magnitude of the National Dairy Show machinery display at Palmerston North, to be hold on Juno 21, 22, 23/ and 21 next, may bo gained from the auiount of space required by some forty exhibiting firms, fl'ho No. 1 ma'chi-iiery-hall is 200 feet long and CO feet wide;- The space is arranged with two avenues and lour frontages, making SOO feel; the shafting supplies a doubleFrontago of. 400 feet, driven by a 42 horsepower engine. Further on, the No. 2 hall is also used for power-driven, mushinery, separators, etc., this is 40 feet by Cll feet, and the No. 3 hall (200 feet by &l feet) is also to be partly used for machinery. The visitors will bo able to inspect the ih'ost up-to-date churns and Jratter-workers, both imported and of Zealand manufacture. A large Tsrioty uf working separators will make part of the • exhibition, and improved Jiolsts in the way of lifting cream cans lor dairy factories will be seen working. On account of the rapidly-incroasing progress of pasteurisation of milk,' cream, and, skim milk, .various pasteurisers of different descriptions will make a prominent and interesting feature. Milking machinery' is naturally going to be ■ a great draw to the farming community, and with the line exhibition of cows milking by machinery, arranged by various firms, the display will be extremely useful to any man .who intends installing a machine for the coming year. Oil engines and refrigerators and various other motors will be plentiful, and it is understood some exhibitors have imported the very latest type of motors whereby the horse-power speed can be regulated, making it possible to get more or less,h.p. as required in the same machine. This type of machino has so far never been exhibited, and will be very interesting to watch. The increasing necessity of looking after stock during .the winter-time will account for various firms making an exhibit of stock foods, end there is not the slightest doubt that the farmer is recognising their value. The exhibitors are representative of manufacturing in all countries, and their display_ will be the biggest international exposition of modern ilairy machinery Been in Australasia.
Intending visitors have already booked op a good deal of hotel accommodation in the . town. ' It will be seen that business firms in the dairy field recognise that next year will witness big developments in the output, and are getting busy to reach the dairymen, who foregather at the National Dairy Show from all ..parts of the Dominion.
