Messrs. Dalgety and 00., Ltd., report on their Levin sale, held this week, as folldwßs—A full entry of both sheep and cattle came forward. Bidding at auction for sheep was not spirited, a number of lines having to be dealt with privately after the sale. Oattlo sold- well, a complete clearance being effected in all lines. We quote as follows:—Sheep—Small two-tooth wethers, lis. Id.; medium wethers, 145.; fat and forward ewes, 10s. Id. to 10s. 9d.; medium woolly lambs, Bs.; light fat owes, lis. lOd. to 12b. 2d.; medium ewes, 13s. 9d. to 13s. lid.; aged store cows, £2 55.; aged cows, in calf, £3 35.; two and a half to three-year steers, £4 Bs. to £4 Its.; threeyear • bullocks, £4 19s. 6d. to £5 45.; light fat bullocks, £7 10s.; others, to £8. Messrs. Dalgety and 00., Ltd., report on their weekly Bale, held <at Eketabuna on Friday, as follows:—We offered an average i yarding to a small attendance. Bidding | for sheep, which was made up of all classes, was slow, ut cattle sold well. We quote:—Sheep— I Two-tooth wethers, 12a. 6d.; ewe lambs, 10s. 6d.; wether lambs, to Bs. 7d.; fat and forward ewes, 10b.- 9d.; f.m. breeding ewes, to 6s. 9d.. -Cattle—Springing heifers, £3 2s. 6d., £3 125.. £4 7s. 6a., to £5 55.; empty cows and lieifers, £3 Is; to £4 55.; fat cows, £4 12s. 6d.; mother-reared weaners, £2 la.
Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At Levin yesterday we had a very full yarding of all classes, 3500 sheep and 400 head of cattlo being offered for sale. All classes of cattle sold readily, but sheep, with the exception of good breeding ewes, met rather a dragging sale, and competition was not so keen as at recent sales. Prices realised were as follow;— Light fat wethers, 14s. 6d.; fat ewes, 13s. to 14s. Tho 'Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd. (Palmerston branch), report' for the week ended May 13 aa follows:—At Apiti, on Tuesday, wo had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep sold well, and all classes of cattle were keenly competedlfor. Wo have to report an almost total clearance at tho following prices :—Sheep—Store owes, 3a. to 4s.' 6d.; cull lambß, 4s. 3d.; empty ewes, 7s. 6d.; ewes, in lamb, to 9s/; mixed lambs, fls. to 95.; wethers, to 7s. Sundries at late rates. At Mr. Princo's furniture sale, held in the hall, full values were obtained. At Feilding, on Friday, a good entry of sheep came forward. Bidding was inclined to drag, but the bulk of tho entry was Quitted. Cattle were yarded in fair numbers, and sold at late rates. Wo quote:—Sheep—Store lambs, 65., sd. to 6s. 6d.; forward lambs, 7s. 4d. to Bs.; cull owes, in lamb, 7s. 5d.; f.m. ewes, in lamb, 9s. 3d. to 10s. 9d.; four-year ewca, in lamb, 3s. 6d.; store wethers, lis. Mr. Newton King's weekly stock report is as follows:—At tho Hayniarkct, on Saturday, thoro was a fair penning of pigs, with good demand. Weaners made ss. 6d. to Bs. 6d.; small stores, 10s. to 125.; forward do., 17s. to £1; porkers, £1 2s. 6d. to £1 55.; baconers, £1 lis.; gigs, £16 10s. to £32 10s.; hack and harness horses,-£3 10s. to £11 10s.; hunter, £16 10s.; Shetland pony, £13 ss. At Eahotu, on Tuesday, mixed weaners made £1 Bs. 6d. to £1 lis. 6d.; woaner heifers, 355.: forward cows, £3 155.; in calf, Jersey heifers, £5. At Waiwakaiho, on Thursday, there was a fair yarding, with god demand, and practically everything sold at tho hammer. Mixed weaners made 225. 6d. to 235.; weaner hoifors, £2; woaner steers. 36b.
