THE NEW ZEALAND CROSS.
■ Sir, —On behalf of the holders of tho Noiv Zealand Cross and the many veterans who saw active servico in the olden days, 1 heartily congratulate tho Government on their generous and just action in at last recommending Captain Northcroft for the N.Z.C. I think I am justified in saying that Uie reputation of Captain'Northcroft, as a noble, plucky fellow, was well known to every man who fought in the late Maori war, and that tho present recommendation for this decoration (although after a lapse of 40 ycarß) must meat with universal approval. Those fortunato holders of this decoration guard and protect (as far as lays in their power) this much-prized military distinction, and one and all of these men will not only bo pleased, but th'oy will also' consider it an honour to have the name of Henry Northcroft included with their own ; in the list of New Zealand Cross holders. —I am, etc., WM. LINGAED, N.Z.C. Wellington, May 14 1910.
