NEW PRAYER BOOKS.
THE ALTERATIONS. By Teleeraph—Press Association— OopyriEht London, May 12. The Oxford and Cambridge presses have issued altered Prayer Books, substituting the words "King George, our Graciouß Queen Mary, Alexandra the Queen Mother, and Edward Duke ■of Cornwall," as required in the prayers for the King and Royal Family in tho various services. CHANCES OUTLINED. - Owing to tho deathy of" King Edward VII and the accession of King George V, tho- following alterations in the Prayer Book become ~ necessary:~ In the order for Morning and Evening Prayer . the prayer for the King's Majesty now reads:—"o Lord our heavenly Father '. . : most heartily we beseech Thee of Thy favour to behold our most gracious Sovereign Lord King George," etc. 'The prayer for, the Royal Family is altered to read: "Almighty God, the fountain of all goodness, we humbly beseech Thee to bloss our Gracious Queen Mary, Alexandra the Queen Mother, Edward Duko of Cornwall, and all the Royal Family,." etc. In tho Litany the Royal petitions now read: "That it may please Thee to keep and strengthen in the true worshipping of Thee, in righteousness and holiness of life, 'Thy Servant George, our most gracious . King v and Governor." "That it may please Thee to bless and preserve our gracious Queen Mary, Alexandra tho Queen Mother, Edward Duke of Cornwall, and all tho Royal Family." In the Communion Office the first collect for the King now reads: "Almighty God whose Kingdom is everlasting and power .infinite . . . rule the heart of Thy chosen Servant George, our King and Governor," etc. Tho second collect for tho ICing roads:'"Almighty and Everlasting God .". . we humbly beseech Thee so to dispose and govern the heatt of George, Thy: Servant, our King and Governor," etc. Tho prayer for tho Church Militant as altered reads: "Almighty and Everlasting God ... we beseech Theo also to save and defend all Christian Kings, Princes, and Governors; and specially Thy Servant George, our King; Ijiat under him we may bo godly and quietly governed," etc.
Similar alterations are necessary in the Accession Service, the namo of King George being substituted for King Edward.
