Speaking at a luncheon of the Licensed Victuallers' Association of New South Wales, the State Treasurer (Mr. Waddell) declared that the proposal that the Government should tnko over the drink traffic, and make it a State concern, was one. which would not bear dote investigation. .
The Government, ho added, would have to find twelve million pounds to do it with, which wqs a practical impossibility, unless the carrying out of the proposal was extended over a long courso of years.
