Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held- their fortnightly stock sale at Wainuicurau on May 10, when they offered a good yarding of sheep and cattle to a large and .representative attendant of buyers. Bidding throughout was animated, and tho prices, realised wero fully up to thoso ruling at last sale. Prinio duality cattlo were keenly competed for, and sold somewhat in advance of lato market values. Prices :-Fat and forward steers, £6 to £6 125.; fat bullocks, .£7 12s. 6d. to JEB 55.; cows, £4 55.; two-year steers.. £3 11s.; fat wothers, 14s. 6d.; fat ewes, 125.; sound-mouth ewes,'Bs. 2d •■ two-tooth wethers, 95., 4d.; lambs, ss. Brown. The attendance was large, buyers from the Manawatu, Wairarapa, and Dawke's Bay being in evidence. Most classes of shdep sold well, although lambs did not quite reach prices of late sales. The class of cattle yarded was well above the average, and we experienced • strong competition especially for young steers and bullocks. (By Tcleefanh.—Press Association.! ' Cliristchurch, May 11. At Addiugton yards to:day there were fairly large entries of stock and a good attendance. Store sheep were rather dull of sale. Fat lambs were- a shade firmer, and fat sheep sold well, especially wethers. Store cattle were in fair demand, and dairy cows met with keen inquiry.

' The yarding of store;sheep was smaller tlian of late, and was composed chiefly of. lambs, the balance being made up of a few pens of inferior ewes and a- few wethers. There was no change in the sale of wethers, very forward lots making 13s. to Us. 2d., and medium Us. 6d. to 12s. 6d. At the opening of the sale lambs brought about last week's rates, but the demand eased off, and several lots were passed in. Average lots- of lambs, made Bs. 6d. to 9s. 6d.; medium,'7s. 6d. to Bs.; and culls and inferior sorts, • 4s. 3d. to 6s. Aged and medium sorts''of ewes were dull of sale, and very few good sheep were offered. Full-mouth ewes made 7s. to' 10s. 6d., 'and two-tootha. in-low condition 12s.'

; The yarding' of fat lambs totalled 7900, ps against 6715 last week. The quality was very mixed, there being some. very prime lots, and on the otlier hand'a considerable number of light and'unfinished sorts. Included in the entry were several lines from North Otagb: Thero.;was good, demand for nil descriptions, and prices were, if anything, a. shade .firmer;,-.;:; Tegs' 'made 12s. 6d. t'o 155.; special, 15s. 3d, to 16s. 3d.; and an extra pen to 185.3d.; light and unfinished, 9a.; lOdi to 125.. Of the yarding 7614 were taken for export, and ■ '289 by butchers at auction.. - . '

Dairy cows were in keen demand-at £3 10s. to £10. ■ •. ' '

The entry of pigs was below the average numbers offered of late. For both fats and stores'there was improved demand and a good sale resulted. Choppers sold up to £3 155.; heavy baconers,' 50s. to 565.; and smaller. 455. to 485.-equal to"4d. to 4Jd.per lb.; large porkers, 355. to 445.; and smaller,-, 28s. to 345.-equal to 4Jd. to 4Jd. per lb:; large stores, to 265.; medium, 18s. to 245.; and weaners, ss. to 9s. 6d.

Dunedin, May 11. At Burnsido market 182 head o£ fat cattle were yarded. There was a brisk demand throughout, and -■ prices were 55." per head higher than last week. Best bullocks, to £11 17s. 6d.; prime, £9 17s. 6d.' to £10 55.; medium, £9.t0.£9 12s. 6d.; heifers, £6 to £7. Fat sheep—33s7 penned, including several lots of good wethers and ewes. The sale was slow-at the commencement, but prices for good sheep improved as ■ the auction advanced. Prime wethers and young ewes were slightly firmer than last week, while old ewes were steady at late rates.
