VITAL STATISTICS FOR 1909.
THE GROWTH 'OF POPULATION IN ENGLAND.
A British Parliamentary paper gives the following abstract of the vital 6tatistics of England and Wales in 1909:— Marriages 260,250 Births _ 914,621 Deaths 518,075 Of the births 406,689' were males and -117,f132 females, and of tho deaths 263,375 were miles and 252,7(10 females, Tho total population of England and Wales in tho middle of 1909 was estimated at 35,756,615, as against 32,527,843 on April 1, 1901.
In London, tho estimated population of which was -1,833,938 as against 4,536,207 in 11101, the marriages numbered -38,176, the births 118,121 (of which 60,211 were males and 57,910 females), and the deaths C8.G12 (of which 35,319 were males and 33,293 females). ' .
