LOCAL BODIES.
THE HARBOUR BOARD'S TRIBUTE.
The following letter was forwarded to tho Prime Minister by tho chairman of the Harbour Board (Mr. R. Fletcher) yesterday:—
"I have the honour; as chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board, to convey to you tho following expression of tho board's deep regret at the decease of his lato Majesty King Edward tho Seventh. "The chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board having received with deepest regret the intelligence of tho death of his Most Gracious Majesty King Edward tho Seventh dosires on behalf of tho board to place on record its expression of deepest sympathy with tho members of tjie Royirl Family in their bereavement, abd of its sorrow a± tho great loss tho Empire has sustained by the death of its beloved King. "I have further the honour to request .that you wiU bo pleased to' forward a.

FIETGHEE." MOTION BY HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL. At the meeting of the Hutt Comity Council yesterday morning, the following motion was moved by the chairman (Mr. J. Whiteman) and seconded by Councillor Welch.— "That the council and inhabitants of the Comity of Hutt, N.Z., deeply regret the sad news of the death of our Moved Sovereign, King Edward VIL" The motion was passed in silence, all the councillors standing, and the oonncil then adjourned until 1 pjn. The windows of the Council Chamber were draped in black and purple, ' KABORI'S SYMPATHY. The fortnightly meeting of the Kaxori Borough Council, which was to have been held last evening, was adjourned for a week ns a mark of respect to the memory of the late King. When the councillors assembled his Worship the Mayor briefly referred to the death of the King, ana' formally moved the adoption of the following message of condolence:—
"The council and citizens of Karori, New Zealand, are deeply grieved at the
death of his Majesty King Edward VTL" The motion was seconded by Councillor Cathie, and carried in silenoe, the councillors standing, with heads bowed.
