Sydnoy, May 9. Tho Norwegian ship Ilala, wheat laden from South Australia to tho lisli Channel, has put in hero in distress. Sho encountered a terrific storm 300 miles to the south-east of Tasmania on April 23 and was thrown on her beam ends. , Tho crow took to tho, rigging, whilo enormous seas pounded the vessel furiously. Everything tnorablo was swept away and the seas threatened to engulf tho vessel. Tho sea flooded the after-part of the ship, but it is believed it did not get at tho cargo. All night tho crew clung to tho riggillg - . , • ■ A At daylight tho crisis canio. A mountainous sea curled down on tho vessel, broko over her as high as the main-yard, and washed right over the crew in the rigging, but the mon camo through safely. Tho boats woro washed away. AfU-r this tho weather moderate#' and tho vessel was brought to Sydney for repairs.
