TEEMS OF PROPOSED AWARD.

The dispute which has arisen between the Wellington-' Licensed Victuallers' Association and industrial Union of Employers, on" the oue hand, and tile Wellington Amalgamated Society o£ Cooks' and Waiters' industrial Union of Workers, on the other, is to be heard by tue Council of Conciliation, i'ho petition to the Conciliation Commissioner. Joseph Dwyer ((Jlub Hotel;. The proposed conditions of an award under winch work, sbail be carried on have been filed with the Clerk or Awards (Mr. -A. Stubbs). They may be summarised as.. follow It is proposed that the term of the award- snail be three years, from- a date in laiO to be-fixed. The provisions with regard to wages, probationers, and boaru and lodging are.tho same as. provided in the present award. An ordinary week's work for all classes of hotel workers covered by the proposed award shall not exceed 65 hours. Each ■ employer shall be entitled to arrange tne' hours of work according to the requirements of his particular business. The hours for waiters shall liot exceed 11 hours' work per day, without payment of overtime, and shall be worked between the hours of 6 a.m. and 12 midnight, as may be regulated by the employer. The hours for cooks and kitchen hands shall not exceed 11 hours, and shall be worked between 5 a.m'. and 9 p.m. Porters whether employed' l at night or during the day, shall work 12 hours. Pantry men shall work. 11 hours between G a.m. and U p.m.

Where more than 65 hours shall havs been worked in any week, overtime shall be paid. The provisions for casual labour. payment of wages, overtime, preference, method of counting workors exemptions from award, and scope of award remain/unaltered.

Tho provisions of the'proposed award shall continue in.force until any change is made by legislation in any of the conditions fixed by tile award. On any change being made, all previous provisions of tho proposed award shall cease to operate, and the following provision shall opsrate-The hrnrs of norls, wages, and. other conditions of nil the workers shall bo fixed by agreement between employers and individual workers, during "the remainder of' tho term of the award. .
