RANGITIKEI COUNCIL.

IBy Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.! Marton, May 8. The monthly meeting of the Rangitikei Council was held at Marton on Saturday. Councillor Georgotti, the newlyelected member for Awanui Riding, was welcomed by the chairman. The Stato Guaranteed Aflvancos Office wrote advising that 4J per cent, would be charged on loans provisionally approved; also declining to pay over several loans, except under the provisions of tho new Act. Tho council resolved that, in the event of not receiving a satisfactory reply to it 3 application for the payment of loans promised binder the Loans to Local| Bodies Act, the chairman and engineer form a deputation to tho Prime Minister, aocompanicd by Messrs. Newman and R. W. Smith, M.P.'s. It was decided to take the necessary steps to raise a loan of £5500 for the now llaumai. Road, through Messrs. Koiller Brothers' estate, which is to bo sold for closer settlement. Tlio loan is supposed to bo 1 secured upon a special rate of Ud. in the £ (approximately). The council voted £15 to the Marton Technical School, and £10 to - the Taikapo Technical School. Tho proposal to havo the superstructure of the Taoroa bridge erccted by day labour was confirmed.
