THE RAILWAY TIME-TABLE.
IS'AFFECTING WAIKABAPA. Mr. A. W. Hogg, M.P., has received a letter from the Minister for Railways (in.reply to one : sent urging an amendment of the Wellington-Wairarapa railway time-table) stating that; after carefully looking into the matter, he regrets that he cannot see'his way to make any alterations or additions. Tba Minister adds: "I may say that a comparison of the passenger traffic in the Wairarapa district for four periods of this year shows a considerable increase ' over the passenger traffic for the "corresponding period of the previous year, and would indicate that the alterations in the time-table have not prejudically affected the passenger traffic As already stated, I have carofully considered the mattor, but regret that, at tha present time I cannot see my way tar adopt your suggestions. You may rely, however, on the fact that the Department will carefully watch the traffic, and your representations will be borne in mind in the event of the business increasing to an extent sufficient to justify the Department in rearranging tho time-table."
