Early . yesterday morning the ShawSavill steamer Kia Ora arrived from Timaru, and took up an anchorajre in the stream to load bunker coal. She will sail for London this evening or at daylight to-morrow. She afterwards returns to Wellington to complete loading and coaling, and will sail from this port for London about May 18. ' 1

After lifting a quantity of cargo at this port she will sai! about Wednesday nest for Bluff. Prom Bluff she proceeds to Lyttetton, whence she is to Bail finally for London about May 24. TUTANEKAI RESUMES. Advico was received yesterday by tho Marine Department to tho effect that the cable between East Cape Lighthouse and tho mainland was showing a- fault, and consequence interrupted. The Government steamer Tutanekai has been commissioned to proceed to the. locality and effect rc■inirs. Preparations for the trip were being made yesterday afternoon, and the steamer will icavo for East Cape to-day.

Evidence taken at the preliminary inquiry into the grounding of the- Wairau. at Foxton has been considered by the Marine Department, and it has been de-. cided to take no further action in the' matter.
