A man named Pierre Bernard, of Chicago, has been posing in New York as a reincarnation of tho Supreme Being. Hβ called himself "Oom Sic." Scores of disciples paid an initiation fee of £20 each, in addition to other fees. Tho police raided his magnificently, furnished house in West Seventy-fourth Street, and there found a number of girls and old men, in close-fitting costumes, dnucing. Bernard' was arrested on a charge of abducting a Califomian girl, who alleles that ho hypnotised her.
The magistrate required .£3OOO ' bail, which was not forthcoming.
