THB ENTOMBBD WOfIKMBIf. LIBERATED FROM THE TUNNEL QUITE UNINJURED. (By Telesraph—Press Ateoci&tlonJ Greymouth, May 5 (9.15 pjn.) Word has just been received that the entombed miners have been resoued from the tunnel. They are quite well, and very thankful for their escape. The three men in the Grey Hospital are making "satisfactory progress towards recovery. Formal evidence was taken at the inquest touching the death of Charles Beemer, killed at Otira tunnel, and the inquest was then adjonrned. Beemor'a body will be sent to hie relatives in Hobart for interment. - , (By Teleeraph-Press Association.) Christchurch, May 5.. ■ Since this morning the drive at OKra tunnel has been thoroughly cleaned ur and the shaft more strongly timbered. Befuse from last nighfs storm has been taken from the shaft and all cleaned to the bottom of the last shot A shot was fired at 2 p.m. at a depth of three feet which shattered the rock for 6ome depth and loosened the roof of the heading within. After further - efforts the men were liberated shortly after 8 o'clock, and emerged ■ uninjured. They were able to walk to their huts.

The "Star's", correspondent telegraphed earlier in the day that Mr, Morns, Publio Works' Engineer, made a eurvey of the. relief drive this morning, and found the line of drive correct. An error was apparently made by the miners, who had not excavated the estimated quantity of stuff. Instead of being 15ft down they were only 7ft. The drive which. Doyll and Duggan have made from inside thj tunnel with the • object of meeting the rescue party is not quite in the same line. There is a wall of rock 4ft thicJr separating the prisoners from deliverance, and this is now being drilled. Doyle and Duggan were naturally di* appointed at last night's failure, and were inclined to be despondent, but thir morning's survey reassured them.' The Mayor of Wellington sent the following telegram yesterday afternoon to the secretary of the Miners' Union at Otira':—"Please accept my sincere syrnfathy in the unfortunate disaster. Can be of any assistance here in Wellington?"
