CARETAKER FOR LYALL BAY.

The Baths aud Reserves Committee of the City Council reported last night that they had twenty-five applications from employees of tho council and others for tho position of caretaker of tho Lyall Bay beach, and they had narrowed this number down to six, with whom the committeo had had interviews. The committeo recommended, that Mr. R. J. Williams bo ap'pointed to the position at a salary'of £3 per week and uniform, and that he commence duties on June 1.

The council discussed this report at length in committee, and decided to refer the matter back to tho committee.
