WELLINGTON SHARE MARKET. The Thames croup Temain fairly firm, and Old Haurakis are providing tho speculators with considerable business. It is Waihis, however, which are causimr all the concern, for it is evident that such official statements as have been so far given to the public have not stopped the downward career of the shares. With eome holders it is a panic, and with eomo of tho clever ones it- is a gamble. About 6DCO Waihis 6old in Auckland, and about 2000 in Wellington yesterday. Some of the Wellington shares wore probably part of the Auckland lot, so that if it be assumed that 6000 were sold throughout New Zealand yesterday it represents about .£45,000. The following wire was received yesterday by the Wellington Stock Exchange from the New Big River Gold Mining Company:—"New Big River battery, short ncriod crushing, April: 50oz. from 82 tons: 640z. of bullion from cyanide; estimated total value £360." ;. The St. George Gold "Mining Co., a new venture in the Big River district, reports striking sft. reef formation carrying lft. of solid, gold-bearing stone.
