CENTRAL MISSION.
WELCOME TO EEV. E. O. BT.AMTBES, A hearty ajid cheerful welcome was given to the Rev. E. -0. Blamires, minister of the new Central Mission, and Mrs. Blamires, at a meeting held in the Herbert Street Mission Hall la6t evening. Mr. H- Baker, bandmaster, led the audience in the "Glory Song," and with less confidence essayed the duties of a chairman. On behalf of those present he gave a warm wolcome to Mr. and Mrs. Blamires. - The Rev. S. J. Serpell expressed the fervent good wishes of the Methodists of Wellington, and especially of the members of the Taranaki Street circuit The conference had done the best thing possible in sending Mr. and Mrs. Blamires to head this mission. He believed that they would do good work for Methodism and for Wellington, work which he hoped would have a lssting effect upon tho future of this city. He had thought that the church ought to do something to try to reaoh tho thousands of young people who were completely.-, outside church life, and when he heard that the King's Theatre was to bo built, lie had taken steps to see -if it could be secured for the mission. Ho was glad that tho services in the theatre had heen so successful. The R-ev. J. Ward (Wellington South) added his greeting. Mr. J. Worden, superintendent of tho Sunday school, expressed his confidence that tho mission had "a man to lead it." Mrs. Cocksedgo conveyed a welcome from tho ladies' committee. Mr. and Mrs. Blamires returned tho good wishes expressed, and spoke hopefully of tho prospects of the mission. Several songs' and recitations were given during the evening, and supper Ijtaa wrjcul.
