ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

FUTILE SEARCH. On Sunday last a further search of the Taramas was made for the missing prospector. Donnelly, which proved futile. Mr. Donnelly has been missing -for about three weeks, and it is believed that he was lost in the hills surrounding the Waingawa River. A large party left Masterton on Saturday afternoon and another on Sunday morning, accompanied by three settlers who are well acquainted with the district, and made a thorough search of two creeks where Donnelly had been prospecting, also' of a spur where a fire was reported to have teen seen six days after Donnelly was reported missing, but without finding any traco of the missing prospector. Constable Dunn accompanied the party.

The hospital authorities advised last night that the man Porter, who was injured by a fall of earth at the Miramar cutting on Monday, was a little easier. Mrs. Guthrie, injured in the motor-car accident on Saturday evening, and Archibald CargiU, who had to have his 'foot amputated as- a result of the railway accident at the Hutt, were both stated to be improving. "MAN OYEEBOAED." (By Teleerauh—Press Association.) Auckland, May 3. The body of a man, whose name is believed to be William' M'Culloch, baker, formerly employed on the s.s Atua, was found in the harbour to-day. It is supposed that deceased got into the water on Monday week last just after the Maheno sailed for Sydney. There was a largo number of people on the wharf, and among others a gentleman and his wife, who stated that they stood aside to let a drunken man ,pass. Almost immediately after their attention was attracted by a cry of "Man overboard." They looked round for the intoxicated' man, and could not see him. Nobody saw anyone fall into the water, the only thing that caused the alarm being a splash aa of a falling body. An exhaustive search was made under the wharves without result There appears' to be little doubt but that the body found'to-day is that of the man who fell into the water on Monday week. ' .
